I have an 11 year old Bosch HBN131220B/03 single oven. About 7 years ago the element blew, as detailed in this earlier post:

I had the element replaced, and it’s been fine ever since. However, I’ve just noticed that I’m getting a bit of a red glow from the oven element surrounding the oven fan (which is working), which I don’t recall noticing before. Am I correct in thinking that this is probably due to the oven fan not working as efficiently as it should? If so, would the solution most likely be a new fan?

If that is the case, then it would appear to be one of these:

which, at £233 seems incredibly expensive. Given that the oven is 11 years old and only cost £299, then I assume replacing the fan would not be sensible, and I may as well just get a new oven? Or are cheaper generic fans available?

    Thanks

quite an expensive fan unit this one and does not seem to be alternatives but glowing from an element is normal unless its too bright. watch the fan as you turn it off. if it stops quickly then its getting stiff but if it slows to a stop in 5 to 10 secs then its ok

Thanks, it seems to be well into the 5-10 sec range, and seems to rotate very freely, so is hopefully OK. Presumably the glow couldn’t be some sort of issue with the element itself being on the way out?

Either way, it looks like it would be a major headache to find a replacement oven that fits in the space available. The current one has a depth of 515mm, and as far as I can see they all seem to be significantly deeper these days.

    Many thanks
