All,
My Electrolux Time Manager washing machine (Model: EWG127410W, Product Number: 91452813202) has started to have problems. It threw an E20 error code (not draining). I ran the cycle a number of times but no luck. It sounded funny when draining, with a high pitch whine rather than the usual deeper growl. I had the filter and pump off a year or so ago and gave them a good clean, so they are in good shape.
I pulled the machine out and cleared the plumbing that it drains into. These were not pretty but not bad enough for a blockage leading to an error. I drained the machine using the drain tube and then opened the filter slot. I pushed the impeller with a pencil and it appear to move fine.
I set the machine to drain and turned it on while looking at the impeller. The high pitch whine was present and the impeller was not moving. I flicked the impeller with a pencil and it jumped to life. I put the filter back in and reran the washing cycle and it completed fine. However, I am expecting the problem will recur and that the pump will need replacing. Is this thinking correct?
Any recommendations for a replacement pump? I believe it uses an Askoll M329, but typical retailers seem to have these at £60 in the UK (much more than some similar pumps that are around £12, e.g., the Askoll M231). Any alternatives that you would suggest?
Thanks.
