Got a Hoover GVSW496D interlock was smashed into the cabinet fitted a new but having to jiggle the door to make contact. I thought I had seen a post on her regarding this fault which advised it was not uncommon and said new door was a regular requirement. Cant find the post ,if it exists, anyone any ideas?

    thanks wilf

not completely understanding what your saying but to recap it sounds like you had a faulty door catch and now after fitting a new one you have to move the door to make it work

If yes then you have to understand how the lock works. As you close the door the hook engages into a plate and slides to the left or right (depends on machine) this plate has a small square hole in it which lines up locking mechanism. if it does not line up then moving the door slightly normally makes it latch
In the past I have used various fixes to cure this. most of the time I find If you can find a way of making the door hook go in a bit deeper it cures it but its a lot of hit and miss. You also do not want to stop it latching as if the door opens when the machine is in use its very dangerous

it is interlocking but not quite far enough to close the contact you have to give the door a good shove. I’m sure I read a post about just such faults on these but I cant find it in search.

no I checked that, latch pin is in place and spring working I think this might be a long standing problem judging by the way the original interlock was smashed away from its fixings couldnt question the customer directly as I was let in by the son
