    Hi new member here,

    If I may, I’d like some advice, our hoover aristocrat vhd (washer/dryer) recently stopped spinning the drum and intermittently displayed e08 code. Checked the brushes and found them to be worn and one not making contact as it should. Replaced the brushes with a very slightly different set of brushes (plastic housing the brushes sit in were slightly different). Now the machine works again. However I can’t say for certain here, when the drum is spinning “all” the lights on the front display panel flicker and flash. I can’t say if it did this before or not, is anyone able to confirm if this is normal? Double checked my work and connections with no issues apparent.

    Sounds like to me that the brushes are not making good enough contact. where the carbon end sit I would suggest cleaning that and trying it again on spin cycle

    or they are not the correct brushes, or not fitted correctly

    is the angle of the new brushes the same as the old one ?

    either way as kaibart says it sound like the brushes are sparking ” a lot “

    Thanks for the kind replies,
    the brushes were an exact fit as the plastic housing the brushes fit into had locating lugs and these didnt fit and had to use the original housings for the locating lugs on the motor. The angle of the brushes were the same as the originals.
    Having had chance to take a quick look, it doesnt appear to be sparking “only” when the spin cycle increase from speed as it isnt a gradual increase in speed more an “instant increase in speed” and causes a couple of lights to flicker for a second and its okay again.

    Is it possible the brushes just needed time to “bed in”?

    yes do the first 10 to 15 loads and lower the spin to 800 at first then 1000. make sure you don’t do very heavy loads (all towels) and they should bed in
