Moderatorits mad isn’t it. With all the technology you would expect a safety cut out for the heater. allowing it to just fail for the lack of a safety device it madness
and will the customer ever buy another one ?

ParticipantI’ve not experienced a problem with these units myself. What were the E-Nr and part number?
For sure, these units are not as robust as the pre-’98 Bosch dishwasher heaters, but they can’t be any worse than Hotpoint’s, for example?
I’m guessing I’ve renewed a couple of dozen of the Bosch heat pump units over the last 6-8 years, and have not heard of any of these failing again. However, I’ve tended to steer customers away form repair where there are signs of leakage from the tub or sump seals, unless these leaks are also dealt with – partial immersion in water and contamination with sticky deposits seem to contribute to failure.

ParticipantI agree Stratfordgirll possibly a seepage has killed the new heater. I watched it for 30 mins no leak visible I’ve got one tomorrow 2.5 years old with a flooded base

I know that have stripped one myself. the only other machine that seems to use a similar heater is a F & P dish draw but because the heater is under the main tank it causes little trouble. the Bosch one on the other hand can blow through having too many bubbles or a stuck diverter valveDave

ParticipantI’ve been swapping at least one of these heat pumps a month for the last couple of years and I’ve had more recalls on this type of pump than any other ive come across. Ive got the repair down to 15 mins but I just dont have any confidence in the product. Its so bad that I tell the customer up front that I can only give a 6 month warranty instead of my usual 12 months just because I was losing out.
I was under the impression the pump burnt out because too much froth was created from the customer either overfilling the rinse aid or a cleaning product being used. Im just not sure though. Ive never been out to another with water damage causing it though.April 6, 2019 at 8:55 am #460815clockworkone
ParticipantI will not give any warranty on these heat pumps. I explain this to the customer straight away. I show them a picture of part listing from a supplier that in their description says “The problem heat pump from Bosch” Many still go ahead with repair which is great as it is a really handy repair. These have the potential to cost you too much money.

Nearly all of my customers will go ahead with the repair even there are cheaper better brand new dishwasher out there. The challenge with these dishwashers, you have to look for the source of the leak. My experience is that drain pump is the one that caused it in most leaks secondly heat pump.

ParticipantYes I agree, with these heat pumps I normally charge £175+ pounds with 6 months guarantee to cover high recall rate.
