Candy integrated fridge CRU 160 EK temperature problem

We have a integrated Candy fridge – CRU 160 EK. The problem is that the fridge does not seem to be cooling unless we set it to the coldest setting (7). But keeping it on this setting means it freezes the food as it seems to run continuously. If we click it to 7 then down again it seems to work for a bit and then turn off automatically – but then it doesn’t turn on again. So we’ve been manually triggering it ever few hours to keep the food cold.

It would be great to know whether this is fixable (by myself or a trades-person) or whether we need to scrap it.
