Hi,
I’m a veteran Hotpoint consumer (had three of them in the past 12 years) and have carried out all repairs to them (warranties are rubbish in my opinion).
I was sort of pleased to see that Hotpoint have totally redesigned the Aquarius, but being an electronics engineer by trade, maybe a little concerned about relying too much on electronics rather than good old fashioned mechanics (as in the program selector).
What is really annoying me though is the 2 minute timer on the door lock at the end of the dry (and wash) cycle, which means that everything starts to crease and I can’t get to it!!!
On my last Hotpont I disabled the door lock completely (I have no children and my wife is sort of sensible). That lock was pure electromechanical so was no problem. However this new one looks much more involved.
I suppose with all the controls now done through a microprocessor, there must be a potentiometer somewhere on the circuit board that controls the time the lock is engaged – anyone know where?
I would be greatful just to turn it down a bit, maybe to 30s. can anyone help? Please?

The door lock works on a ptc, it is a sealed non adjustable unit. The computer circuitry merely supplies power to the lock.
Your clothing will not get creased in the two minutes it takes for the lock to deactivate. If this is a problem you would be advised to select a programme with deeper rinses, gentler wash action and a slower spin speed.

The door interlock on this machine cannot be adjusted in any way, it is a bi-metallic switch and is not microproccesor controlled. If it is actually taking 2 minutes ( have you timed it, or does it just seem like it) then a new one may open a little quicker, but to be honest the clothes will not crease any more in two minutes, unless of course you are also stopping the drying cycle before it has gone through the ‘cool’ tumble.
Patience is a virtue, “often” rewarded. 😉

Thanks for the replies guys. It was worth a try.
I will have to disagree slightly though, clothes that are warm and stagnant for up to two (ok I haven’t timed it!) will have more creases than ones that are taken out and shaken imedeately – I tried an experiment on my last Hotpoint.
I must admit that the creasing is minimal and I’m just a whingin’ git! I also don’t like the fact that the dryer timer doesn’t move so you need to know when the drying cycle started to know when it will finish – on my last one the timer moved and you knew when it would finish by looking at it.
