ParticipantHi,
I have had a Zanussi de6965 without any trouble until yesterday. The displays showed “ALS”. So I found out the manual and found it was actually “AL5”: alarm 5. The manual says to check the filters are clean and that the inlet hose is not squashed. The filters were not blocked. The hose was fine too; I did not expect it to be squashed because the machine has not been moved since I had it, also it seems quite rigid. I switched the power off and then on, hoping to reset the error, but the machine started the cycle and a couple of minutes into it bleeped the same error again. I searched this forum and found a suggestion to disconnect the inlet hose. I did this and it did seem to reset the machine. Presumably by disconnecting the hose you remove the water pressure and this resets something? Anyway the machine worked fine after that until it then displayed “AL4” (flood). I reset the machine again and since then it has been ok. Is this a fluke or is it the beginning of the end? Are Zanussi generally reliable and if it goes wrong are they expensive to get fixed? Thanks.

This sounds like a blockage in the air break or the IWMS kit needs fitting.
The latter is about £65 for the part but I’d need the product code (PNC) to identify.
If you do a forum search for “IWMS” there’s quite a bit of info on it here.

I’ve just had the same problem with a different Zanussi d/w model and I did the same as you.
Once the machine had decided to sabotage all my efforts and show the same fault for every programme, I decided it was a specialist problem.
Our preferred service engineer cleaned out a load of accumulated crud from the water intake system (the area that needs a bolded DIY than me to tackle). Which at £52 plus VAT fixed it.

Thanks for the very fast replies. It has not played up since that one night. If it does so again, I will get someone to investigate the iwms. Thanks.
