Built in AEG L61271BI – Black marks on white washing!

Using built in AEG washing machine (5 years old) working perfectly (no noises, rattles etc.,) but black/grey specks on washing. These specks can be picked off after the wash, do not seem to cause staining! The soap powder tray has not been used since the machine was new as I got fed up with the undissolved soap powder mess left behind! We have been using Fairy Non Bio pods (those that you put in with the washing contained in plastic which is designed to dissolve in the washing).

Have found a deposit of this grey stuff around the inside of the rubber seal. Looks rather like grey very soft and guey plasticine and comes out in little chunks. Have cleaned the inside of the rubber seal a couple of times recently but it seems to come back!

Perhaps this stuff is coming from a bearing break down, but there is no associated bearing noise when the drum is in operation!

We have now changed to Persil Non Bio liquid which is put into a plastic container then in with the washing – so will be trying this out for the next month or two!

I am working on the assumption that the plastic covering of the Persil pods is not dissolving completely in the colder washes that seem to be recommended these days, and it is this residue causing the problems.

Anyway rubber seal cleaned today – watch this space for further info!
