Bought a house a year ago with an integrated Indesit DIF04 in place. Having read these forums I see these are not well recommended… anyway, have used it for a year (family of 5, daily use) and on return from holiday yesterday, we have what looks like terminal error lights on the machine: power button + lights 3 and 4 are continually flashing. These will not go away – pressing/holding down Power/P buttons does nothing. Removing mains power and then plugging back in just goes back to the error lights.
A quick Google search seems to suggest this is a PCB communications error and looks an expensive repair. Given that these machines are not well thought of, am I safe to assume that it is in fact now dead since I don’t really want to pay a large amount of money to repair it (would rather put that towards a new one)…

A communication error could be faulty pcb but could also be a simple break in the door wiring harness preventing the console pcb from ‘communicating’ with the main pcb in the base. You would need to unplug then remove outer door panel to inspect the wiring. Look carefully at the place the harness bends as the door is opened and closed.
Thanks for your help. Indeed it would appear that it has risen from the dead and is now working again. I gave it a few quick swings on the door and firm shut/open and all of a sudden the flashing error lights went off and it started to respond.
Well, it lives for a while longer….
I would strongly advise removing the door panel and checking the wiring harness to repair any broken wiring. It is the weak point in every single dishwasher regardless of manufacturer. Some are better designed than others but with age the wiring insulation hardens and cracks. Sometimes the heat generated at the break can cause further damage.
