    Hello

The grill on the oven in the house I now let will light, but then blows itself out with a small bang/pop. It’s a New World and probably 20 years old. I’m afraid I don’t know the model number. Given its age I wonder if it would be cheapest to just buy one reconditioned. Or is it worth getting someone to look at it?

    many thanks
    MrBen

    MrBen,

We are all too aware of the consequencies of faulty gas appliances especially in rented houses, flats and apartments. Safety is paramount and therefore can I suggest you isolate the faulty appliance and seek professional assistance from an authorised CORGI REGISTERED repairer to either repair or replace it!

Reconditioned/secondhand gas appliances should be avoided at all costs.

Thanks Martin. I’ll get someone out to it asap then. Can you suggest where to look for someone reputable in Nottingham?

    thanks

    Re: Gas grill blowing out

Thanks for your help. I’ve been advised that a repair may not be worth doing on a 20-year-old cooker, which was my instinct too.

So, looking for a gas cooker for a rental property, is it worth getting anything more than a cheap unit? Last year’s Which? report made two Parkinson Cowan’s best buys. These where £4-500, so I thought I’d look to the cheapest of this brand… around £175+delivery. Does that make sense?

    thanks
    MrBen
