ParticipantI have a VERY old AEG washing machine. It has developed a F7 error fault. It gets stuck on the main wash and doesn’t progress any further to complete the wash unless it is on the cold wool cycle. Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.
Many thanksSeptember 30, 2019 at 1:40 pm #463470iadom
ModeratorPNC number (begins with 914) would help. Does sound like a no heat problem though.

ModeratorHmm, all Zanussi based machines use E** for error codes but E7* codes all relate to heater circuits, specifically the thermistor. The only way to get the full E** code is to enter diagnostic mode. Unfortunately there are many different display/control panel set ups on these machines and around 7 or 8 different ways to access the diagnostics. A picture of the control panel might help if you can post a link to one.

ParticipantDO you have a mobile or email that I can send a photo to? The file size is too big to upload on here.
Thank youSeptember 30, 2019 at 3:14 pm #463474iadom
ModeratorOk, try this, turn rotary selector switch to OFF. Press and hold the top two left hand buttons in and switch the knob one position clockwise. That should enter diagnostics mode. Slowly turn knob clockwise one click at a time until a three digit code E** is displayed, that is the full error code. To exit diagnostics turn off, on, off.

ParticipantOK… I switched the rotary selector to ‘off” and pressed and held the top 2 (of the 4 buttons on the left hand side) and the display showed ‘178’ instead of the usual ‘105’ minutes remaining. Then I tried slowly turning the rotary selector clockwise but the display reverted back to showing the usual remaining time numbers. What do you make of this? Thanks for all of your help so far, very much appreciated! 🙂

ModeratorYou don’t need to keep the buttons pressed all the way through, just for a couple of seconds as you turn the knob. Even though there are over 20 different display/control panel setups is doesn’t actually show one like yours with the dispenser drawer to the right so the instructions I have given are for the nearest alternative.

ModeratorIs one of the buttons labelled Start/Pause. If it is not one of the top two far left vertical buttons then locate the START button and press and hold this and any other option button whilst turning the knob one click clockwise then release buttons and see if that gets you into diagnostics mode.

ParticipantNope, that just made the machine start a wash no matter which of the other buttons was also held in at the same time 🙂

ModeratorThe only thing I can suggest now is to inspect the heater, heater thermistor and connected wiring for breaks, resistance, continuity and insulation. It looks like yours will have the heater with the thermistor combined.
