ParticipantHelp needed please, I’ve noticed over recent weeks that the ISE potentially wasn’t heating the water especially on the higher temperature cycles, it was impossible to judge on 40 degrees, but on a 95 degree wash you could always feel the heat on the glass and around some of the front panel.
Question is, how do I go about fixing the issue? What do I need to test/check first? I have a second hand element I can fit, but obviously I need to check if thats actually the problem first before I do that. Any guides or help would be very much appreciated, I have domestic spark qualifications and have some nous so don’t worry I won’t be killing myself!
Cheers!

ParticipantP.s. Forgot to say, I did a maintenance wash today to check it out and it isn’t heating the water at all.
Secondly, I caught my daughter playing with the panel and it went into program mode, could she have switched it off perhaps? Is there a reset to send it back to default perhaps?
Thanks

ModeratorWhat exact model of ISE 10 do you have?

ParticipantHi, its a 1606W I believe, the WM25.3.
I’ve been reading a service manual, and trying to get it to run a test programme but it won’t let me. Is this usual?
Thanks

ParticipantAlso, I thought I could do a reset by holding down start and turning the machine on, but this doesn’t seem to do anything at all? It just turns on, with the previously selected program lit up, please help!
Cheers

ModeratorAm I mistaken or did I send you the full pdf manual a while back?
As far as the heater is concerned a simple continuity and resistance test would soon tell you if it was faulty. I have the exact same machine but tbh I have never had to do a reset on one, will have to have a look at the manual myself.:)

ModeratorMy mistake, I have a later W1607. When doing a reset on the W1606 I usually unplug from the mains for a few seconds then plug back in and follow the manual.
Total reset
1. Hold the start/stop button (S1) in when you switch on the main power switch until an LED on the panel

ParticipantHey, yeah I tried that method above but the machine just lights up as normal. No signs of a reset or anything it just lights up ready to roll on a program as normal with the time in the display.
Is there anyway to get it to cycle through the test process as it won’t do that either, although the manual says it should.
Thanks.
P.s. No I didn’t receive a manual from you, I already have one from an old thread, ta.

ModeratorNever actually had one go through a full test cycle, never had the need to try it truth to tell. Have you meggered the element yet?

ParticipantHi, yes just done it. It’s measuring 26ohm so I think thats okay is it not?

Moderatorthe key thing with the heater is the reading to earth and it should be a reading in the 10’s of millions of ohms

ParticipantSo should I do a resistance test between one of the terminals of the heater and the earth connection? If so which terminal? Thanks

ParticipantSo I couldn’t get a reading off the thermistor it was only reading as open circuit, I replaced that with a spare part. Then when I ran a 95 degree cycle it never started to get warm, as I watched it switch to the heating phase, the washer seemed to hesitate and the display flashed but carried on with the cycle. Does that help at all? The thermistor I removed was covered in like a white scale?

ModeratorThermistor may appear o/c with a simple continuity test. Resistance at room temp could be around 28k ohms. After testing the wiring from the heater to the main pcb that leaves you with the unfortunate possibility of a main pcb failure.:(

ParticipantFair enough, I’ve pulled the element out and it’s coated with scale and there’s a big chunks of scale I cleared out of the hole. It was tough to get out too. Can I clean anymore scale out from the hole in any other way, and could this be the issue perhaps?
Cheers,
Al
