Hi… My washing machine is tripping the fuse as soon as the power is switched on at the socket.
I’ve tried another item in the socket to ensure its not that and I’ve tried the washing machine in a different plug and it trips.
I’ve Google searched and the most likely suggestion is the mains filter.
However I don’t know how to check whether it is this or not.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    It’s a Candy GVS1610TH/1-80 if it helps.
    Many thanks

before you jump to conclusions try disconnecting the heater and the motor and see if it trips then. make sure all disconnected wires cant touch anything

both the above are the most likely problems

Right… So I did what you said and disconnected the heater and motor and didn’t trip. I checked continuity on both and they seemed OK. I reconnected the motor, still no trip and then the heater… Ah, there lies the problem it seems. No sooner had I done that, one flick of the switch at the socket and everything goes off.
Safe to say I need a new heater element?
