KeymasterHello experts, 🙂
I have a 2 year old Candy frost-free, fridge freezer running without any problems until now.
In the last 48 hours the fridge compartment has ‘iced up’ and this has caused the salad items in the veg drawer to freeze.
I turned the temperature dial to zero last night [the light also went off], and this morning the milk had partially froze.
I can provide the folowing information:-
1 It’s a Candy upright…model CPCA 291FXK.
2 The ‘cooling wall’ at the back of the fridge compartment, has a coating of frost and ice beads on it – never normally seen – usually only a few condensation droplets.
3 The unit appears to be ‘running’ constantly. I have not heard it making the usual gurgling and hissing noises.
4. The freezer compartment appears to be working as per usual.
5. The refridgerant type is R 600a followed by 55g.
6. The instruction manual says that ‘both the and freezer defrost cycles are controlled by a microprocessor unit’ ….. if this was to be the fault, would it be user replaceable or is it a job for an engineer ❓May 18, 2005 at 3:20 pm #135117BobHope

Hi Guest,
does the compressor stop and the appliance go quiet when you turn the temperature control to the 0 position. if it still runs then it is the pcb assmbley and since it had been changed from the original you will need an engineer to fit it.
let us know the result. 😉Cheers Bob.

KeymasterHi Bob, thanks for replying…….I turned the temperature control to the 0 position last night and the compressor continued to run, as far as I can tell all night.
The only thing that changed when I did this is that the light in the fridge compartment went off.
Is the pcb assembly an expensive job to replace.ta for the help

Hi,
it is most definatly the PCB.
not really a high cost for the repair, but prices do vary from area to area pop your post code up or look in the repairs section (red toolbox) for an engineer in your area and ask for a quote.Cheers Bob.

KeymasterHi again Bob,
I just tried the’red toolbox’ and unfortunately there’s no engineer for this area [Edinburgh]. I’ll see what else I can do and let you know the result.thanks again
regards Jack.
