My Whirlpool AKG 668 top oven is not working. The grill is fine but cannot use the oven for its purpose. Anyone suggest a likely error or is it the tip for it. It is getting long in the tooth now like its owner and I do not wish to spend a fortune on a repair. Many thanks.

well since the grill is working I would look at the multibank switch behind the top oven control knob

look for burnt or bent contacts

Thanks for confirming my thoughts on that. My research had led me in that direction. I now have to decide what to do. I don’t think, in fact I know, that I cannot cope with pulling out the oven although once that is done I probably could cope – bearing in mind my advanced age and infirmities – so it looks as though it will be a repair job for someone. Just wonder if it will be worth it financially given the age of the beast. Thanks for your thoughts on the problem it was good of you to take the time

well the first thing to check is if the part is still available

if you post the 12 nc number then I can look it it as there are a number of machines with very similar model numbers

    if yes

    part number should be

    4819

    273

    28387

but it looks like its obsolete

Oh I apologise, I wrote it down incorrectly – I said I had a visual impairment and trying to manipulate a torch and head on one side obviously didn’t work very well – yes it should have been a zero. Well that has almost decided me, I’ll see how I go with just the grill but being as how these wretched under the counter double ovens have to fit them into such a small space I think it will be a new one as I often find I need the second oven when I have visitors.
Thank you so much for your assistance at least you have saved me a call out charge only to be told that info. You are a star.

Everything that I want to say it’s buy a new oven. If you have a small kitchen, you should think about countertop oven. It’s much more cheaper, smarter and effective.
