Oven has no display and buttons not reacting in any way, customer says used it night before no problems and next day was like this. Power to oven is ok, checked rear pcb and apart from getting a couple of nasties from the capacitor on the board (even though mains off for 3 weeks) there are no marks or signs of damage. Anyone got experience of this fault on these as it’s the first slide and hide pcb oven I’ve come across.

    Cheers in advance.

the first thing to check is a power supply problem. the main board at the rear generates the power to supply all the electronics. Unfortunately the board pic on the Neff site is not good enough for me to look at some of the components but my guess would be the unit has a power supply chip that has blown through a mains surge

My thinking as well;). Customer has flagged a doubt up because he ‘Googled’ the oven and found references to the facia board causing these faults regularly. I’ve looked around and can find nowt about it. Told a customer off last week for mentioning Google as all it does is set the job off on the wrong foot. Sign of the times s’pose.:(

have you done any jobs on switch mode power supplies ?

my guess here is its a double power supply board, tv’s use the same principle. Power supply a only produces enough power to supply the facia display and turn on the second supply when needed
my guess is the initial supply is powered by a switch mode chip of the TNY*** range or LNK*** range. its a 7 leg small ic. to protect this ic and other reasons they tend to fit a 3 watt fusible resistor, under 100 ohms in series with the live input. find this resistor and if its blow you know the chip and resistor need replacing but also you know the power panel is faulty
