    Hello all

I tried to be the knight in shining armour and save my neighbour from buying a new f/freezer, yet hit the buffers and am lost as to the problem and solving it.

I disconnected it and defrosted for 4/5 hours (even putting a bowl of hot water in the fridge, with door shut), and thought it was all sorted as I could push a rod all the way down the fridge drain tube proving it was frozen and now clear.
Poured some warm water down the tube and it collected in the tray above the compresssor, so proof it was clear (tray emptied up as well).
Drying every bit of moisture from both fridge and freezer with towel, then turned on waiting for the magic to happen.
Well it got down to 8.4 degs, then she filled it with food and it went up to 10.4 (precise I know), and it has stayed at 10.4 degs.

What does this mean, is it a lost cause and need scrapping, or persevere as its an easy fix.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
    Thank you all…

when you measure the fridge temp it varies and can change but this does sound high

now you need to figure out
1 is it a stat problem in which case it turn off too warm
2 is it a compressor/ gas fault in which case it will never stop running and eating elec trying to get to temp

    Hi Dave,

    Thank you for your input.
Nothing worked so had to admit defeat, and get new.
    Cheers Dave
