    Scratching sound when motor turns one way.
    Took motor out found what looks like thin paper similar to camera film touching. Bits of it also on base Pulled out with pliers. Noise gone.
    Anyone have any idea what this is and does it matter anyway.

    Sounds very much like the strips used to separate the windings on some motors.
