ParticipantHi Guys,
My Neff cooker extractor hood the light is not working, so I thought it must be the bulb SES screw type, this also did not work, so I thought let me test these bulb , just in case if they are dead. But these bulbs works in the other room light.
When I slide the switch the light flicker for a second and it NO light.
So I turn the electric off and remove the switch and the circuit all look ok to me, as I could not see any burnt marks.
Fan is working in all 3 speeds, just the light is not working.
I could not see anything wrong with the switch or the wiring or the circuit board. I don’t know how to test the switch, as I have the multimeter to check , so I can check this evening.
This cooker hood is about 10-14 Years old.
I check the white junction box and this is only a wiring centre.
The wiring on the circuit is all soldered, so I don’t know if I do buy a switch I might have to solder the wires again on to the new switch or I might have to buy a new cooker extractor hood.November 25, 2019 at 3:45 pm #464804Specialist01269
ParticipantThe switch is probably only has 2 terminals. With the mains power turned off or the hood unplugged, use your meter set to continuity & place the meter leads across the switch. Turn the switch on and the meter should have a very low reading for a good switch, something like 0.5 to 1 ohm. But the switch contacts are most likely faulty.

ParticipantThank you for your reply.
I will test it, but my main concern is replacing the switch is I have to solder the wires back to the New circuit board with new switches. The Fan is working so the switch is ok on this. Circuit board will be ok and most probably the light switch must be faulty, so I will have to replace the whole complete switch with New circuit board.
I will have to look at ebay to see any Neff second hand extractor or the switch. My model is E nr D8602N0GB /05 FD 8205 001681

ParticipantHi
Just an update found a second hand Neff cooker and replace the switch and the Light is working on the second hand switch and the fan switch also works, but the Fan setting switch 1 is not working.I also checked the Old switch with Multimeter to check the switched Ohms and it was temperamental I think my reading was set on Auto ohms reading and I think it was somewhere around 7Ohms and when I did it again there was no reading and did it again it read again, as I placed my probe on the circuit board, where it is soldered the switch.
I also tried it on the Fan switch and again I was getting reading and then no reading and I know the fan switch was working fine.
but for now the new second hand switch will do the job for now, except the Fan setting switch 1 is not working and this second hood was purchased on ebay, so I have the spare fan, 2 filter, , which I purchased for £20.
