ParticipantHotpoint Condensing Tumble Dryer.
Model # SUTCD97B6GM(UK)
Serial # 512104204This machine has the ‘BPM’ Motor type.
The original jockey wheel was black in colour and has been superseded with a new white jockey wheel. However, the shaft size is different. Meaning the new white jockey wheel doesn’t fix properly. I have tried contacting Hotpoint and they literally couldn’t have been more useless/less helpful.
Presumably, there will be a new shaft whihch is required for fitting the white jockey wheel.
Any ideas please? Many thanks.
Daniel.

ParticipantI have just looked at the official service information and found the following notice.
Please be aware the black Jockey Wheel is no longer available. This has been replaced by the improved performance white Jockey Wheel, they are NOT interchangeable. If you have an appliance with a black jockey wheel, then you would need to order the kit of motor and wheel C00519660, but if it is a newer motor with a white jockey wheel then you just need to order the Jockey wheel C00519663
Hope that helps

ParticipantThanks Jem. Appreciate the help.
Having to purchase motor listed at retail £158 + VAT seems like a reasonable consequency of a two-penny plastic jockey wheel failing.
It’s daylight robbery, Hotpoint should be ashamed of themselves.

ParticipantSo, basically they have altered the design because the original design wasnt man enough and the customer has to pay for a whole new motor. Doesn’t that basically prove that the design was ineffective when they sold the appliance? Unbelievable.
* Rant over haha

ParticipantWhen Hotpoint was a UK company they would have provided a kit with the new type pulley and a conversion sleeve.
If you are stuck Daniel I am pretty sure the pulley on C00165972 is the same.Murv…

ParticipantHas anyone tried using the wheel off the bracket that Murv suggested? If not then I may have a job to give it a go on.

ParticipantI’ve fitted a couple of QUAPLY40 or 50-HP-03 which are substitutes for C00113879, they have the same shaft size and have had no call backs.
I always add extra grease on the carbon shaft as well.
