ParticipantHi,
I have a old Creda Cooker hood model CRU30 that has stopped working, both the fan and light don’t work. I have replaced both the light bulb and fuse but this has not resolved the issue. The cooker hood is a very old model and I do not believe I can buy a complete hood and replace the one I have now. There are various spare parts available but as I don’t know why the hood has stopped working I don’t know which part to replace – also some parts are expensive. This is an area I know very little about and wonder if anyone gave give me advice either tracking down a cooker hood issue and looking for replacement part OR taking out the old hood and finding a new hood that would fit the current housing OR any other ideas??? Thanks in advance

Moderatorwell first is to make sure the power is getting into the unit. Has one of these a while ago and when I removed the unit someone had added another plug so ther was a fuse no one knew about
after that its most likely a switch problem as both lights and motor don’t workDave

ParticipantThanks Dave. Something strange just happened. I decided to try another 3amp fuse (not sure if this is the correct fuse??) in the plug that powers the hood, while doing this I also re-wired the live wire of the plug just for my own sanity. Once completed I turned the bulb of the hood back on and it worked then I tried the fan switched and it made a strange noise stop working and the bulb went out….

ParticipantThanks Dave. Do you still have your cooker hood or did you replace it with another type of hood? I guess I either need to order and fit a new motor or cut my losses and order a new (different make/model) hood and get fitted?

ParticipantHi Dave, I’ll give Ingest a call tomorrow and confirm the motor is correct and how easy it is to replace. May have to end up calling out their/a repair person to come and have a look….

Moderatorwell its a complete strip down but with care it should not be too hard
try to find a local trusted engineer as it will be cheaper than the manufacturer
