ParticipantOur Bosch dishwasher works perfectly except that when it finishes the cycle there is still water left in the ‘bowl’ section of the machine. I have checked for blockages all the way through to the outlet pipe and it’s clear – including the impellor.
Anyone got any ideas as to what might be the problem ❓ – Thanks!

If the machine shares the same drain coupling as your sink, raise hose slightly to prevent any water flowing into the dishwasher from the sink!
Also remove, inspect and clean the black rubber ‘flap-valve’ adjacent the pump impellor (assuming you have an SGS/SGI series Bosch that is?)

WOW! – what a quick reply – Fantastic!
We raised the waste pipe to make sure it was as high as possible and ran a rinse cycle. Once finished, we checked inside and the level had gone down, but slowly started to rise back up again!
Is the flap-valve inside the machine. ❓Also our waste pipe goes through a box which is attached to the mains – I think that’s somethiing to do with the salt tho’

ParticipantIs the machine in a basement with the drain pumped uphill by a Saniflow perhaps?

No, it’s in our kitchen and once the water gets into the drain pipe runs freely to the drain outside.

Yes…the non-return flap valve has stuck open. If you look in your user handbook it will tell you how to remove the pump cover inside which will reveal the flap valve. As Martin says, you will see the top of it (black rubber) which you can carefully lift it out with using small pliers or stout tweezers. Clean, reassemble, and that should sort it for you.

How deep is the water? Are you sure this is not normal pint or two of water that’s always left?

The water level comes up just over the mesh

Wow!
It’s clearly not draining correctly, so either their is a blockage in the pump impellor and/or flap valve or where the end of the drain hose where it connects to wherever you have it coupled, there’s a blockage/restriction there somewhere I reckon!
