ParticipantThis cooker had me confused. Can anyone give me pointers on what are the problem and how to fix this? I thought it was the simmersats but all of them are doing it. I had a look on the diagram circuits on the booklet, it doesn’t imply that there is or are thermostat(s) in the circuits except for ovens. Your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Moderatoris this a new problem with this cooker ie has it been ok up to now
has she bought new pans
the only stat I know of is the one inside the ceramic ring to stop overheating that’s why I asked about pans as my thoughts are if the pan cant take up the heat as fast as its being produced the ring may overheat

ParticipantI am not aware of new pans, I wanted to demonstrate that all six rings are doing this. Owner says it was taking ages to boil. To answer your question that it is a relatively new problem but been like this for a while according to the owner. She was waiting for the right moment to tell me and the fan oven broke which was why I was called out to the job purely for the oven.
I put the pans on myself to see how long does it take to boil and I thought it was ok considering then saw the switching off at random places. It became clear that the problem is there. I originally went out to replace the fan element and she did tell me about the rings, I thought maybe it is linked with the fan element so I fixed the fan oven. The owner says the rings are still misbehaving.

ParticipantOh to answer your question about the cooker, it was fine all along until this problem happens. So it is not a characteristic thing.

Moderatorstill think it may be a pan thing. If only one ring was doing it I could see that may be a problem but all of them hmmm very unlikely the same fault happens to every ring at the same time. There is no logic in the unit to turn off one ring at a time so the only thing that is happening it the thermal limiter on the ring is shutting it down. Find a pan that will absorb heat quicker and the problem should stop “hopefully”

ModeratorDo these power share when 1 or more are on because I know the beko and smeg ones do with induction and if it happens with just 1 ring aswell the way to prove its a pan issue is to get the grill pan out and place it on 1 of the rings as there are more ions in a grill pan.

Moderatorshort answer don’t know but I doubt there is power sharing but I assume it still does it with just one ring which would not power share anyway. Also don’t know if they power share ceramic rings only induction
Dave
grill pan may work but it is steel not aluminium or copper which conducts better

ParticipantIt’s ceramic hob, how can a pan affect the performance?

if the pan cannot absorb the heat at the same rate it is being produced the ring will overheat and activate the overheat stat on the ring.

ParticipantHi twick: If you Google ceramic hob or saucepans for ceramic hob, it tells you the type of saucepans that should be used with ceramics and why.
