I have a variable speed control module for my cooker hood which has given up. This part is expensive to source and I just wondered if I could replace the variable speed control module with a simple on/off switch. I know it would only run full speed, but that would be ok given the age of the appliance. Has anyone done anything similar as a retro fit fix ?…..

although I cannot say for certain the is a high probability that it can be done as long as it is electrically safe

Many thanks for your reply, have managed to get hold of a double pole toggle switch. I aim to fit this from the L/N supply after Xmas. Should be okay.

as long as the switch is capable of taking mains voltage and cope with about 6 amps of current. Also if switch needs earthing make sure its connected

I would connect it in as a temp first to prove it works before you start drilling holes to mount it

Cheers, will do. Already checked the drawings out to see the easiest place to connect.
