ParticipantHi, and hoping for some advice.
Our Hotpoint WDL520 washer/dryer has started giving us some problems today. The details are below
Fault/Symptoms
Wash cycle starts, machine fills and even spins a few but then just stops, and after a certain amount of time, the lights flash and we have some solid lights on the front (Image below)Things I have tried so far
- Cleaned filter. Was completely clear of any debris.
- Checked all hoses under sink for kinks etc. Please note it pumps out and fills.
- Checked cold water supply but obviously that is fine.

The machine pumps out if I turn off power and back on. and even seems to run a cycle to end now and again. I am baffled.
Thanks
Aaron

ParticipantAn update.
I have successfully run a pump out cycle and rinse cycle since this post. I just moved it to a fast wash to try that and it has gone 10mins in and now decided to stop.I turn it off at mains, and change to pump out mode. Turn on and it is now pumping and spinning etc.

Moderatorthink it may be a heater temperature sensor problem

ParticipantThanks for responding electrofix. I can see some online for £16ish. Can I ask, what are the symptoms of warn carbon brushes? and can I rule them out?

Moderatorworn carbons would be faulty on any programme not just on the ones that require heat
I would check first that its not a broken wire to the sensor

ParticipantBrill thanks Dave, I am unsure how to check that sensor but I am contacting a local repair place tomorrow to see if they can come look for me.

ParticipantSo engineer has been and he ran a multi meter on the temperature sensor. That read a 28 so he was happy. Needs to be between a 20 and 40? So in his opinion it is the PCB at fault, and that gets expensive then. He did “tighten” and check all connection whilst in the back. So I have tried running a fast wash just now on low temp. It got further than it has done recently but crashed out. So guessing that is goosed! Time to look for a new one!
