ParticipantHi All,
Seeking help with my 18 month old Candy dryer (model C8LF-80). It has been used daily in the last few weeks since it’s rainy season here. It just suddenly stopped with all lights flashing and 3 beeps. Just before xmas too 🙁
I really don’t want to land fill another dryer but struggling to find the fault here so would appreciate any tips.
I’ve done the usual;
- I’ve search here (most suggest heater fault but against different models but I’d hate to spend out and it not be that)
- Cleaned condenser thoroughly
- switched off at the wall for a long period of time
- Phoned Candy with no luck with an over the phone diagnostic
They want £119 for an engineer visit. Smart touch option is next to unless and phone doesn’t pick up the fault. To be fair the Smart Touch has never worked with my phone, bit of a gimmick.
Model – C8LF-80
No LED panel on this model, so it just shows constant flashing lights with 3 beeps.
Symptoms
- Switch on Smart Mode, a few seconds later it will fail with the flashing lights and 3 beeps.
- Switch on to any other drying mode, it will operate for about 2 minutes before stopping and flashing.
- The heater unit at the back doesn’t appear to warm up at all but I’m not sure if it would after 2 minutes anyway?
The heater unit does have continuity with a multimeter with the first thermostat (yellow and black cable)
If it is the heater unit, it seems as if I would have to take the drum out as the cables don’t appear to but able to be pulled out. No slack. My guess is the 3 beeps does mean something!
Cheers

Moderatorif it is fault 3 then its reporting the water tak is full
if it is this fault on this dryer its a real pig to get out as the drum has to be removed to get at the pump
you could try tipping the dryer (slowly not too quick) if the sump is full the water will leak on your floor. You can then see if the fault has cleared. if yes the dryer will work till the tank is full again but it will prove the fault
