    I don’t know if anyone can help, before I spend loads to get a technician out. I have a Bosch dishwasher (SPS40E32GB/40) that is 2 years old.
    about a month ago the ‘check water’ light came on midway through a cycle.

    After that, each time I ran the dishwasher the cycle would start and then after 1min the ‘check water’ light would come on.

    Now the dishwasher doesn’t even start, and no water even goes into the machine.
    I’ve checked the impeller for blockages, water inlet and the water mains…everything seems fine. I took the side panel off and the chamber where the float lives (sorry im
    not very technical) was blocked with whAt I think is limescale. I ran boiling water and bleach through the chambers and some of the limes scale broke down to the point where water can now get through.
    None of this has worked and now the dishwasher just has a whirring motor sound when we put it on and no water enters the machine…….PLEASE HELP !!

    is it under 2 and therefore under guarantee or over ?

    double check the water supply is no and there is no kinks in the hose

    also there is a float in the base where the motor is. if water get into the base the float detects an overflow and stops unit and runs the pump for ever till its switched off

    Thanks for the quick reply Dave.

    I’ll double check water is on.

    Is it pretty easy for me to access the base ?Also, in order to solve this issue, would it just be a case of me mopping up the excess water where the motor is ?

    Sorry if my questions are a bit ignorant !

    yes get water out then float drop so machine will work

    if there is a leak causing it the fault will re-occur

    Thanks Dave. I tipped up my machine onto its side and a small amount of water came out.

    I couldn’t find a way of accessing the base of the machine though, to have a good look.

    I also took the panel off of the side, removed the whole section (with the plastic cylinders) and ran boiling water & bleach through. There is a small amount of hard limescale lodged in one of the chambers.

    I managed to remove some of the limescale but there is still a fair bit in there.
    (I tried to add a photo but this forum says photo too big)

    A dishwasher cycle now works fine for about 5/10mins then goes back to ’check water’.

    Do you think this hard limescale could be what’s causing the water to not get into the machine.

    limescale would not stop the water going in. if it got blocked at that point the water pressure would pop something

    at the point the dishwasher check water light comes on, How much water is in the machine ?
