Hi, my Indesit DIF16 dishwasher has been messing about the last couple of days.

When I put it on a cycle, it sounds as if it’s doing something but then when you open it (after you think it’s finished), you see the P2 and P4 lights flashing. Contents have not been cleaned and the tablet has not even been released. Have cleaned filter, filled with salt and rinse aid. After trying a number of cycles, the rinse aid light is now on again also.

Does anyone know what this light sequence means on this particular model? Have been searching and have got a number of conflicting results.

    Thanks in advance.

if they are the correct lights then it looks like a heater fault

    Thanks Dave.

The dishwasher is around 8 years old. In your opinion, would it be worth trying to fix (presumably replacing the heater element), or buying a new appliance?

well the heater is this one possibly (you would need to check)

always a difficult decision but you would still have to find out if the heater has failed and if there is any reason for it

At 8 years old a hotpoint is towards the end of his life. unless you are doing it yourself it would be more cost effective to change it and get a full warranty on the new one
