My dishwasher is just shy of 3 years old and has the same problem for the second time in under a year.

The check water light keeps coming on and sometimes there is water in the bottom and sometimes there isn’t. However if you start a program again it drains so it isn’t blocked.

the reed switch was replaced around March time and this has been ok until now when the problem has started back up again.

The inside of the big white translucent section on the side looks a bit gunky (I can’t upload a photo). Could that be an issue?

    any other ideas? Thanks

the gunk is where the anti syphon valve is and that is not your problem

with the side off, select a programme and start it
it will pump for a bit then start to fill. you should see the water wheel going round behind the reed switch

I assume you have checked for kinked hoses and the tap is turned on

Thanks for the reply and reassurance in regards to the gunk

Tap is on and no kinks in the hose.

the wheel on the reed switch is going round. Ran a rinse and it got through until the end where it was left with a little bit of water in the bottom and check water light came on.

definitely no water leaking into the bottom

have you looked at all the causes of water light on in the manual ?

as long as the light is just on and not flashing it can be blocked filters, blocked drain or pump or water inlet problem

Sorry for slow reply. Yes, i’ve Checked everything in the manual. All filters have been cleaned (including the but you unclip to get to the pump bit)and all pipes to and from are clear as is the drain. If I start a cycle it pumps fine at the beginning and gets all the water out, does a bit of washing and then when it comes to drying it stops as it doesn’t pump the water out. But if I start a new cycle all the water gets pumped out. So I can do a wash cycle and then a rinse cycle and my dishes are washed without the drying.

it’s exactly the same issue I had about a year ago when the repair person replaced what they called the reed switch. I just feel like the same issue shouldn’t happen twice so maybe something else is wrong and I don’t know what it is.

fed up of throwing good money after bad but at the same time want to be environmentally conscious and not buy another machine unless I have to

well reed switch is an easy fix but don’t expect it to work on one part of the wash and fail on the next unless its just bad or good luck each time
