ParticipantMicrowave sometimes fickers and goes blank after 15 – 20 seconds and sometimes reads E305. Intermittant fault !!!
Changed main pcb and initially seemed ok but now doing it again. Anyone know what fault code refers to ???January 7, 2020 at 9:05 pm #465748electrofix
Moderatorfrom what found online seem to be a communication error between the 2 boards
search google for Bosch error e305 as they are the same unit

ParticipantFurther info; have found if i have a decent load in mw its ok but if just a cup of water it goes off after 10 – 20 seconds ? doesnt sound like comm error as that would likley be more consistant ?

Moderatorthat almost sounds like leaking microwave energy in the control panel

ParticipantMy thinking now is possibly magnetron breaking down when low load in the oven, however ,would that cause display to faulter, possiblly ?
Unfortunatley i did my microwave training with the local electricity board long before inverters came in, but i assume they only do the job of the transformer ?January 13, 2020 at 9:18 am #465752electrofix
Moderatorcorrect no difference apart from invertors can do more precise power control without turning the mag on and off all the time
I would run it with the case off, with a leak detector in my hand and see if it does it then. With the case open and leaking waves can escape

ParticipantAGGGH ! customer wanted it doing so changed magnetron. On 10th time of testing it did it again. Can only assume inverter board as its about all i haven’t changed ??? This job just got very expensive

ModeratorI assume you are not buying the mag etc from Neff as it would get expensive if you did that
anyway the mag is reusable as there are lots of these units about

No, and luckily had quoted customer for both but they wanted to go ahead anyway as new ones didn’t match their oven !
Just starting to loose confidence with it, don’t think i’ve ever had any appliance cause me so much troubleJanuary 29, 2020 at 1:32 pm #465758electrofix
ModeratorI am not convinced that a mag or invertor can cause the 305 fault. done lots of these but have never seen this fault before or after

Must admit i’m not sure myself, however it is deffinatley load related and works perfectley with a good sized load in the oven. I will double check connection between boards but i have already had it out once and could find nothing wrong. If you can think of anything else i could check i would be MOST grateful

Participantjust to add, when it goes off screen goes blank, then comes back on with time clock reset to zero. time then needs to be reset ( not cook time, actual clock )

Moderatorhave you run it with volt meter connected to the mains connection?
was wondering if you had a fault mains supply
