So we have to replace our integrated fridge/freezer as it is not cooling well anymore, seals are going, shelves broken, icing over in the freezer…
We really want more space in both fridge and freezer but the available space in the kitchen isn’t massive. With some reshuffling we can free up a wall/corner that would in principle fit a full-size American fridge/freezer, but I think this would take over the kitchen and the side by side ones just don’t work for us (we figure you can’t get our standard Waitrose essentials pizza into any of them and freezer at the bottom just makes more sense for us).

I really liked the look of the Fisher and Paykel RF523GDUX1 (79cm width) but £1900 is hefty and the issues with servicing this brand seem severe. I would pay that if it was a similar arrangement from Liebherr, but their version is full size and £5k. The only other companies doing the slim french freezer style are Haier and Hissense and we were not convinced about their build quality when we had a look at them. Any advice about models with similar arrangement but RELIABLE GOOD QUALITY in 70-80 cm width would be appreciated.

After reading the buying help here, we decided we don’t need water or ice (I’ll need to replace kitchen tap soon so will get a filter/hot water one). So I started looking at what else is available in the 70 cm width with a more traditional layout. Liebherr seem to only have the CNef 5715-20 available and I’d really prefer the interior layout in the Bosch KGN49AI31. We really would be using all those controlled temp boxes, it is £500 less than the Liebherr and seems like the VitaFresh from Bosch = BioFresh from Liebherr but you get three different boxes vs 1 from Liebherr. So I just wanted to get some input if the Bosch KGN49AI31 is a solid model or not and any points of difference to the Liebherr beyond the quality difference.

Also, what is the difference between Bosch serie 4 and 6 for fridge/freezers?

Your help and comments would be much appreciated!

    Hi

Fisher Paykel and Liebherr both have specialist local engineers to repair their products as they are more complex than the average fridge freezer. Liebherr is the best on the planet which is why you have to pay a higher price to get the best. They also produce all of Miele refrigeration appliances as well. F & P on the other hand produce across most product sectors, still a quality product and sold through specialist retailers.

Bosch is a good third option series 6 usually gives the consumer a few more twiddly bits like crushed ice option rather than the twist box on series 4. If you get a copy of their freestanding brochure you can compare all the differences between the different series.
