Hi Folks,
My tumble drier will only run if I stand in front of it and fold down the ON button
here’s some additional info:
Its plugged in and has power. Loaded or unloaded makes no difference. Setting the temperature switch to HIGH or LOW makes no difference. Position of the timer dial makes no difference. The door is closed correctly. The trip switch is not the problem.
When I depress the ON button (which is a momentary push switch) the machine starts with the heater element working as expected and the drum rotating correctly, but as soon as the ON button is released the dryer stops. Its supposed to continue running until the timer dial reaches zero
If I hold a finger on the ON button to keep it depressed, the dryer runs as normal and will continue until the end of its’ cycle before automatically shutting down correctly when the timer reaches zero.
I suspected a faulty switch so I replaced both the ON/OFF and TEMP switches with new genuine parts but this did not solve the problem.
Could this be an issue with the starting relay or other electrical component?
I could bridge the switch so its permanently ON which would then allow me to use the machine but I’d rather not, due to safety concerns.
Any advice would be most welcome as White Knight’s customer support department said they won’t give advice over the telephone and I must pay £45 for a call out at a bare minimum.
regards
Nick
