My dishwasher stopped at number 5 on the programmer leaving it full of water. I drained it down and took the programmer front knob off and gave it a good clean as it was very difficult to move. This seemed to free it up but having tried to start her up again on a new cycle she wouldn’t fill with water so I put back in some fresh water to the level I found it originally and off she went. Having got to 5 again she stopped albeit this time the water had drained.

Have I got a programmer fault or does it need resetting? I’m fairly handy so if anyone can talk me through it otherwise I’ll take her for a trip down the dump. She only cost me £100 secondhand 6 years ago (made in Jan 1997) and I’ve had my money’s worth.

    thanks

The whole problem sounds very similar to vincefarrells on his Bosch Dishwasher.

You set the dial to 3 (normal wash). It makes a noise sounds like a pump trying to move water (not sure if trying to drain or fill, presume the latter) but no water enters the machine. After 30 seconds this speeds up and after a minute and a half the programme dial rotates slightly with a load click and the pump noise stops although if you listen carefully you can hear a low hum which persists but nothing else happens. I then switch off for fear of further damage.

What I meant to add in my second reply is that the only way you can get it to work is to fill with water and then manually click the programme dial round a notch to about 4 when it stops at 3.25. However, it then stops again when it gets to 5.

The fault is that the water level system is both stuck and blocked and needs stripping and cleaning 😉

Careful attention be placed on the water level float mechanism AND the sump hose from the metering tank to the sump.

No need to DUMP because of a blocked SUMP…Ha! Ha!

Thanks Martin, I’ll drag her out on the patio and strip her down. Hopefully that will sort it else it’s off to the dump we go.
