ParticipantHi, I’ve been getting a Er47 (comms) error on a Rangemaster induction cooker. This has two separate power boards and a display board with knob control.
I understand that the main power board (3 rings) acts as a Master and the second power board (2 rings) acts as the slave, in replacing one or both of these boards is there configuration routine that needs to be undertaken?
Is the main ‘brains’ of the system actually in the ATMega chip on the display board, or programmed in to the Microchip in each of the power boards?
If I can salvage a PCB from a separate configuration, is there some way to re-configure the boards to the new 3+2 set up?
Thanks in advance

Moderatoryes all new board need to be configured
as far as i know its a sequence of knob turns to do it but i think everyone is slighly different depending on modelthe fault code suggests a poss calbe fault so i would unplug and re attach all the data cables
switch off for at least an hour before opening and even then only touch the ribbon cables
you open at your own risk

ParticipantYeah, I was hoping that might be the case.
I saw this video on the tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPvImdUR3Vk
I couldn’t get this to work, I get the ‘A’ and the ‘P’ but no beeping! It looks like they have their display board linked up to another unit (diagnostics?) – can’t get any further info on it. I’m half wondering about driving up to Leamington Spa and seeing if I can get in the back door at the factory! Surely this must just be a software tweek.
I can’t get past the customer service team to speak to anyone half technical – perhaps I might brush up on my german and try EGO direct.

Moderatoryour not going to get the info from Rangemaster unless you are an recognised repairer. These days if they give you the info and you hurt yourself they could be liable
there is a possible help on the horizon where under the right to repair legislation. Manufacturers will be forced to more generous about sharing technical info but even then you may have to prove competance to be included
