    Siemens washing machine IQ Drive.
    WM14T491GB/01
    Enr 9612

    When the machine is plugged in with the selection switch set to ‘OFF’, there is a relay which keeps clicking (once every few seconds). This relay is located on the Module (#12013508) located rear right (where the mains cable attaches).

    Sporadically, the LED’s will also flash (as if a program has been selected).

    Any experience on this fault, please?

    If I had to guess, I would assume the device which reads the selection knob is faulty, and passing a signal to the power module to ‘ready-up’.

    However, the selection knob doesnt behave oddly when rotating it to selctec a program. Maybe it’s the power module at fault?

    The boards are rather expensive, hence I’m asking for advice.

    does sound like a power module problem but Siemans want £120 for a new part

    i would check the power supply on the board as it may be one of 2 things

    the sort of power supply used on most boards these days uses a system called fold back under fault conditions. this means if the current increases too high the power chip will shut off to stop things from blowing. then when its turned off it will turn back on again. The result can be this on and off problem and it may be another board causing it
    i would disconnect all other boards and see if it still does it

    Many thanks for the helpful info Dave – much appreciate the help.

    I’ll try disconnecting the selection board as well as testing various for earth faults etc.
