For some reason my SMEG SUK91MFX (10+years old) only heats (oven or grill) if we bang the door hard. I’ve checked the elements resistance and all are sound. The oven sometimes also loses heat.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

electrofix Thank you. Where is the switch? I can’t see anything obvious. I replaced the hinges before, so wondering if it behind the panel there. Thanks

yes as the hinges close it will operate the switch

    may just need adjusting

not sure if its left or right side but on other cookes i have seen its on the right so i would go there first

Thanks- I can’t see anything when just opening the door. I’ll take it off & the panel to see if its behind there.

Hi, I’ve found the problem. I took off the back in the end and found something had burnt out. I can’t attach pictures due to the quota. It is a white box at the top right looking at the back, with most of the wires going into it. These then feed inside the cooker. The wires come from the mains to the circuit board and then into this white box. When I disconnected I noticed one of the pins has melted.

thats the plug for the wiring harness, had that burnt out before

correct way is to change the whole harness but you could use porcelain connectors but you need to cut back to clean cable
