ParticipantHi,
my RC20CCSV American fridge freezer has a noisy fan in freezer. Noise stops only when freezer door opened, and comes on occasionally during the day. Noise comes from top 1/4 of the freezer.
no ice can be seen in vents and both fridge and freezer are to temp.
any ideas.?
thanks

Moderatorwell its either ice, a noisy motor or the fan is warped and caching the plastic
either strip it or defrost it completely with doors open for 48 hours
obvously in the current climate it, as long as it is running to leave it unless you are able to store your freezer contents somewhere else for a few days

ParticipantHi Dave,
I’ve taken a look and when removed the inner covers, the fan ran smoothly so can eliminate the motor or warped fan.
if ice then this had melted, but I did notice that the polystyrene insulation was swollen and damaged slightly. When I pressed the polystyrene water came out so could this be the problem if frozen? I have photos but can’t upload – do you have alternative way of sending to you? and if this is the problem then can new polystyrene panel be bought?thanks
Paul.

ParticipantAs the insulation is soft it will just allow ice to form so you will need to replace the rear panel if it’s still available.
Try the WTA shop or personal message R600a who may have one.
