ParticipantHi
My Hotpoint washing machine WDPG 9640 started to give an F15 error. I need to get things out of it but it won’t unlock.
I’ve turned it off at the mains, then when I turn it back on it displays the error again before it’s had time to unlock.
Is there a way to unlock it manually, or reset it so the error code goes away, at least long enough to for it to unlock do I can get my clothes out?
Thanks in advance

Moderatortry this
pull tab with one hand ( moves about 30mm) then open door with the other. Warning if its full of water it will flood out

ParticipantThanks so much that worked a treat. Now I’ve got it open and the water out it seems to be working now.
Any idea why it starting failing? As its happened once I assume it’s likely to happen again?

ModeratorF15 seems to be a dryer problem. poss could be an earth fault on the element
Do you use the dryer ?

ParticipantWe don’t use the dryer very often, certainly haven’t for a few weeks. It’s just happened again half way through a cycle so will probably call an engineer out. Is it worth trying to clean the filters or something?

Moderatorwasher dryers dont like the dryer not being used. you should run the dryer at least twice a month for about 30 minutes. If you dont do this the dryer element can get dampness in it and it can cause the problem you now have
if it will come back on try to see if it will let you run the dryer. The hope is if it will let you get it hot it may dry it out. Its a long shot but you have nothing to lose. if it faults out as long as it ran for 5 mins or so try again
bit of a long shot

ParticipantOk thanks I will try that.
I just ran a drain and spin cycle, it failed again half way through and was full of water, which is odd as I didn’t think a drain and spin would do that?

Moderatorcan do that. if the dryer element has a fault it can affect any programme. on some machines you can disconnect the element to check for the fault but machines wont run unless the element is detected

ParticipantRan a dry cycle successfully, then ran another with some stuff in, it’s started failing again, and again it’s released water when it shouldn’t.
I am going to ring Hotpoint tomorrow, thanks a lot for your help particularly as its Easter Sunday!
