KeymasterAriston ad10 drum tuns but will not go to spin, cleaned pipes, checked sensors, new brushes fitted 3 months ago, when you put on spin cycle a series off clicks can be heard then drum spins slowly, checked pump working fine.

Took drive belt off, put on a spin mode, motor wet into spin ok ? Does this mean the motor is strugling to spin the drum ? Do you think i need a new `motor` ?

It’s looking that way Colin 🙁
When it spins (without the belt) do the brushes spark the least little bit? Again without the belt on, will it tumble in both directions?
Take a look at the Control Module Terminals as they tend to play up and burn out too 😉

had motor checked by electrical shop, motor is fine, he told me it looks like it will be the control module. £ 124.00 !

Be very careful of that diagnosis Colin. Motor refusing to run under load is a classic armature failure sympton. Second opinion required I think.

Verry interesting, thanks for reply.
I found an old control module which I had from engineer when he did a repair and replaced the `bearing spider assembly` and put a new control module in under warantee.
Anyway problem still the same.
Whats the best way to test the motor under load ?May 24, 2005 at 8:39 pm #135669Penguin45

Have re-read the thread, the key is that you have had the brushes replaced. I assume that the motor had stopped at that time, prompting this work. Unfortunately the last few loads would have had the motor struggling to get good contact into the armature, which would have got very hot as a result and may have “cooked” it. If the initial damage is only slight the motor may well run on for a while, but each ramp into spin will be gradually increasing the damage.
Anyway, motor is p/no C00046533. Dave_Conway will be able to give you a price on it, and you can weigh up what to do from there.

More like annoying, I just checked with a different wholesaler (Washvac) and they are considerably cheaper than the one I checked the price with the other night :haier:
