Hi,
I have an AEG F84470VI dishwasher (PNC: 911636010/01) that appears to be filling with water but is not cleaning anything.
I’ve placed a cup, openside up, in it and run through a full cycle but the cup has no water inside it.
A search online suggested the water inlet valve but I cannot see one and AEG’s parts site does not list an inlet valve for this product so I don’t really know what to look for.
Another result suggested prefilling the dishwasher with a gallon of water to bypass the water inlet but, as soon as I turned the power on, the device drained the water.I decide to remove the panels to get a better look at what is going on and I can see that water is coming in, flowing in to a tank at the bottom, and finally in to the dishwasher. The water then levels off and the process repeats itself 3 times during a quick wash.
If I look at the other side of the dishwasher I can see the pump and a tube for feeding the upper spray arm. As the water enters the dishwasher I can see it moving up the pipe about 2 inches then the pump kicks in. It does not pump the water to the top of the pipe but you can see the water bubble up a bit like it is trying to but running out of water.
I’m assuming that it means that not enough water is being fed into the dishwasher so it is either the float or inlet valve (neither of which I can see).
The AEG website lists a Water Block Inlet Hose (which has a power cable attached) and a float support kit (but I don’t know where that goes).Is anyone able to advise on possible fixes before I fork out £80 on parts that I may not need?

let it fill and open the door and see how much water is in it
if its about an inch lower then the bottom paddle then its ok
your water valve is on the end of the fill hose by the tap

I’ve let it fill and opened the door. The water barely comes above the filter so probably 2 inches below the lower spray arm. I’ve added a photo of it to the link in my original post but you cannot really see the water as it is so low.
start it and when it starts to fill open it and put half a bucket of water in it and then close door and see what happens
how fast is it filling and does it stop ?

I poured the water in midway through filling and it cancelled the programme and drained the water.
I then waited for it to finish filling and start trying to clean before adding more water and it accepted a little extra water. But when I put enough in it that it would be about an inch below the spray arm, it drained the extra water and carried on with the same volume of water that was originally in it (just from the fill process).The fill process takes about a minute.
there are 2 pressure switches on the right hand side front
one of them is the water level switch
the other one pumps it out if the water get too high
you need to chek the hoses to these switches are clean and have no gooi had an identical unit doing the following ” it fill up till the pump starts and pumps it out, it then fill again and repeats”
it was the level switch with a hole in the diaphram. Changed sw and all ok. got a complete building full of these, changed 3 so far as they are old enough for them to go

I managed to remove the switch and the hoses last night. Both hoses seemed dry and clean on the inside but 1 of them has what appears to be a scorch mark on the outside. I’m not sure if the material in the hose has reacted with contact to the black material on the underside of the main dishwasher body. Or if it is near the heating element and has actually started to burn after 16 years. Either way, I replaced that hose with one I had lying around then tested both switches. I can hear each of them click as I increase the preasure in their respective chambers. I’ve reattached the switches to the dishwasher and run through a cycle but the water level didn’t improve and the inside still appears dry.
how does it manifest itself
does it fill, stop filling and start washing or
does it fill , then pump out, then fill etc

It fills. Towards the end of filling I can hear a motor (or possibly the heating element) kick in. Once it finishes filling, there’s a slight pause and the pump tries to pump the water to the spray arms. After that it drains and the process repeats. It is still following the full programme but, presumably, not enough water inside it.
I have noticed this morning that the second chamber of the blue water in box has drained and is currently empty. It has been sat for just under 2 hours since the last test.
you say either the motor or the heater kicks in but you would know if the motor kicks in as it a whoosh sound as it starts
you need to check if the motor is starting. if its just buzzing then its either jammed, the motor capacitor has gone or the motor has had it

I’ve just tried it again. The sound is coming from the motor. It makes a constant buzzing/droning noise (like it is spinning) then after about 20 seconds you can see the water in the pipe to the upper spray arm start to splash around.
Is that capacitor in the link the compatible one for my dishwasher? The current one is ICAR MLR25L40303063.
Is it worth trying a replacement capacitor?
