Hi, here’s hoping someone can help. I went into an appliance direct store in February to order a specific extractor fan. I gave the saleswoman a piece of paper with the details printed out. She ordered online and I picked it up week later. Due to the current situation there were then many delays to fitting my new kitchen. When the package was finally opened it was the wrong one(for a wall not an island..just a digit out on the order.)
All I get from appliance direct is an offer to keep it with a 30 pound discount. No use to me. I contact them daily by text but getting nowhere.

    That’s a hard one.

Technically you’ve got a “reasonable” period to inspect and so on the goods and after that they are deemed as “accepted” legally, which is generally considered to be measured in days. Weeks and months later you really have lost the right to reject it on grounds of suitability etc, even if there was an error on the retailer or your part. You could try to fight it but probably the cost to do so would be far greater than the cost of the hood and, you’d be unlikely to succeed.

The current pandemic wouldn’t really have any bearing on the ability to inspect and, from Feb, that’s some weeks before the country went into lockdown on the 23rd March.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I really don’t think you’ve got much hope here. 🙁

I thought as Ken did, you should have checked it was correct and undamaged on the day of delivery. If it had been smashed in the box you would also have no recourse at this late stage
you can try pressuring them but in the end it may be better to accept the £30 and try to sell it elsewhere that way you only stand to lose £20 or so as if you offer it £50 off retail someone may take it as at the moment it has some guarentee left
