are you sure its not just a faulty pump that goes oc when it gets hot. They can run a lot

cant be certain on that one some seem to run an aweful lot

as energy consumtion becomes more in fashion they can time them on and off or use a sensor to trigger them

tell me one thing while i am thinking. There are a lot of hotpoint dryers out there still that were part of a recall. had yours been modified or did you buy it after jan 16

AFAIK, the pumps always used to run continuously on these dryers, not sure about more recent models.

Hi guys sorry to be so long responding after some thought i rewired the pump through the microswitch so it only operates when activated by the water level
i cant see why it needs to be more complicated its working fine now thanks John

as long as what you have done does not interfere with the machines ability to decide when its full. cant get a wiring doagram for this one but its also likely the heater will cut out when the micro is activated. This sw is intended to tell the machine the draw is full of water. in some machines it operates the full lamp and turns off the heater so no more water can be extracted until its empty
