ParticipantMy wife told me that the dishwasher had displayed flashing lights and had not cleaned the dishes at all. She turned it off because of the fault, but couldn’t tell me which lights had been flashing. The tab had been dispensed, but the bottom of the machine looked dry. I wasn’t sure if there had been no water intake or that the water had drained out again without going through a wash cycle
I checked that water was available at the inlet and decided to run a ‘Normal’ wash cycle to see what happened and hopefully see the lights flashing for myself. It took water in and heated it and then just sat there on ‘wash’ for a couple of hours seemingly doing nothing. I checked a couple of times – there was water in the bottom still and the few dishes I had put in were untouched. After about 3 hours it started making a noise and draining water out, but the On/Off and Start/Pause buttons were flashing very quickly
Can anyone shed some light on this please?
Many thanks
Mark

ModeratorHeater timeout, apparently.;)
Heater open circuit or ntc detached from casing.

ParticipantThe on/off light and the start/pause lights flash together very quickly. No other lights were on
Water is taken in, heated and sits in the bottom of the machine until it’s pumped out again eventually, but no water is sprayed and the machine is pretty much quiet between filling and emptyingFrom further research online it looks like it might be a dead recirculation pump

ModeratorThe main circulation pump is a known weakness on these Indesit made machines. No water circulation would cause the heat sensor or ntc to register no rise in temperature and give that error message.

ParticipantThanks for the replies, iadom.
A new pump is £130 plus postage. The machine is 12 years old. It caught fire in 2015 and was repaired by the manufacturer. Apart from that I only replaced the tablet dispenser and bought 3 replacement cutlery baskets over it’s lifetime.
Time to move on
Cheers
