ParticipantI am looking for a washing machine that’s going to be running 8 hours per day, 5 days a week turning around hotel laundry.
I’m trying to weigh up the costs for Beko vs Miele vs a commercial washer. Unfortunately, the commercial industry seems to be occupied by pressure sales people with conflicting information.
Commercial washers are at least £1,500 (second hand), on top of this the call out fees for an engineer are £200+. Leasing the machines is £250+ (per month)
A Miele is seen as reliable, the entry level model is just as reliable as the expensive models so I could spend around £800. How long would a Miele last running constantly?
A cheap Beko is £250.
I’d like to know if anybody is using a Miele or Beko in a high volume commercial setting?
How long would these machines last? I’m looking to get at least 1 year out of a machine for it to be economically viable.
In the event of a breakdown my strategy would be as follows:
Miele: repair, sell and replace.
Beko: scrap and replace.June 3, 2020 at 8:15 am #469288don
ModeratorGood grief that’s about 25 loads a week which roughly equates to 8 weeks on domestic use which in turn gives you an estimated life span of about a year!!!
A domestic machine whether it’s Beko or Miele will not stand up to that amount of use. Domestic manufacturers reduce the amount of guarantee or give nothing at all for commercial use. Miele when I last checked with them were only giving six months for commercial use.
You really need to go down the commercial route, JLA are a company that have been around for a long time specialising in this area.

ParticipantDon is spot on. However I used to do repair work for a disabled folk concern but I am unsure as to how many people they catered for, though obviously a greater number than a large family, and they, strangely enough, had a Beko that lasted nearly 3 years. Think it went wrong 3 times but could be wrong: brushes wearing out was definitely one. Based on this admitedly scant info that was rather good value for the pennies.
