Hi all, I hope everyone is well. HELP!!! I have a Hoover integrated washing machine – HBWM814TAHC. Had it just under 2 years. Yesterday put it on as normal and about 1 minute into the wash cycle suddenly stopped and displayed Fault Code E22. And the strange thing was there was smoke coming out of the drum and a strange smell of plastic or rubber burning!
Can someone pls shed some light on what just happened and what Fault Code E22 means! No mention of it in any of the manuals! Thank you.

as expected from the symptoms you have a heater problem

my guess is the heater energised with no water

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply I’m very grateful for the response.
I forgot to mention that the machine stopped filling with water just before it began to smoke and the fault code appeared. And I could hear a faint buzzing sound, even when I switched it off.
Do you think to the best of your knowledge that it could be a inlet Solenoid Valve failure or PCB board failure?

the machine should not be able to turn the heater on if there is not enough water in the drum so i am thinking poss board failure plus now the heater will be dead as well as it contains a fuse that may have blown

this fault seldom happens but it has to be investigated fully
on the really old machine before heater protection I have had heaters come on and start glowing red. then the heat toasted little brown marks on the washing to match the holes in the drum. Very dangerous days
