Hi, I’ve just replaced the element in an elderly Whirlpool G2P 62F/01
The old element went pop (audibly, I’m told), had visible hole and very high resistance.

The new element comes on, the fan spins, the temperature indicators come on one by one as they should (so that means the thermostat is working, right?)
I believe that the cooling fan comes on correctly too.

But the element never stops heating. First it lead to a F02 error (overheat?) during normal cooking (and burnt scones.)
So I checked with a cooking thermometer. With set point 80degC, my thermometer was showing over 150 with no sign of the heat stopping.

Heating did stop when I turned the knob to off, that mean the relay is ok, doesn’t it?

So now I’m confused. Any help appreciated.
    cheers

find the relay and with the oven switched off see if you get continuity. If yes its welded the contacts

Thanks Dave, you are quite right, it is a fused relay.

It took me some time to work out there are two relays controlling the main element, and they both need to be on to get heat. The first one is connected to the main control knob, and the second one to the thermostat. That’s why the one worked and the other didn’t.
