So, the other day I went to get something out of the chest freezer only to notice it was starting to defrost. I looked down to see the alarm light on and noticed that the compressor wasn’t working. After a little reading and Youtube visit, i took off the start relay and checked it for continuity, nothing, so I ordered a replacement part off Amazon. The part came and I fitted it and the freezer sprung in to life, all’s good! About a week later I noticed the alarm light on again and the compressor not running. Checked the start relay again, and it was in bits inside, thought I might have been unlucky so ordered another one. It came, I fitted it, the compressor ran but knocked off after about a minute and would’t start again. I checked the start relay and it is ok, checked the thermal overload and it is ok. If I unplug the freezer and leave it a bit it will start when plugged in again but only run for about a minute. Do you think the compressor is the fault?
I took resistance readings across all three terminals and got 24, 14 and 38. Any help would be appreciated as the freezer is 2 years old and like brand new.

As with the Russell Hobbs post I just answered, if you get repeated failure of the relay/overload then it is almost a stone-cold certainty the compressor has failed and those components are doing as they should do, failing to prevent further danger/damage.

Yes, that’s what I thought. New Freezer it is then.
