ParticipantFirstly thanks so much to everyone over the years. It’s always the first and last place I visit when I need info on repairs and has always been a goldmine.
I have a Samsung tall freezer rz32m7120 that I picked up for bugger all on fleabay not working. Never has. Took a chance on it because my intention was and is to rip out all the controls and Install my own as a kegerator.
My best guess was not enough r600a so I bought a refill kit and just as a tester I added a little more without the wattage on the compressor skyrocketing and sure enough it’s chilling now. Perfect beer is on its way!!!
However, I can’t find the required weight as there’s no sticker inside and for the life of me I can’t find that data. So….can anyone help? Need the grams fill required. Easy if you’ve got one in front of you!!!
And as a Brucie bonus I’d be happy to oblige you with any PCB you may need off it or any drawers or ice box etc. It’s all completely brand new never been used.
Thanks in advance

ParticipantUnless you are a qualified refrigeration engineer with Fgas qualifications I am surprised you could buy refrigerant and doubt due to its flammable properties anyone would supply information to you on recharging.

ParticipantHi Tony.
I was under the impression that fgas only covered the governance of environmentally toxic refrigerants, of which r600a isn’t. I could be wrong but isn’t that why r600a is freely available and others aren’t?August 2, 2020 at 2:32 pm #470927Franko_uk
ParticipantI would never dream of messing with any of the others!

ParticipantI know I had to do a handling course to gain a certification card to allow me to purchase and use these refrigerants ( R600a and R290a ) and was recently asked for my company Fgas certificate to purchase 2 cans of R600a, and questioned them, and was told it was now required to purchase R600a as well as other refrigerants.

ParticipantWell I do believe that’s a good thing Tony. Essentially it might not be ‘ozone depleting’ as others, in itself it will still contribute to global warming. No more or less than 10 disposable lighters for a pound though!
I can essentially leave it as it is….it’s cooling down nicely now and the compressor is under no undue stress. But the engineer in me wants it precisely as Samsung designed it.
Either way it’s about to be shifted from outside, in. New controls and two shiny chrome beer taps on the front of it so if anyone wants the pcb’s do message me. They’ll come in handy for someone in a few years when they start going tits up as things invariably do! -
