I have looked on the ‘which magazine’ website and zanussi appliances seem to last the 1st or 2nd longest. However, that takes in to account people buying them over the past 13yrs or so but the quality of newly built units may not necessarily be good. I was wondering what you guys think of new zanussi appliances. Are all Bosch Serie 2 models of appliances poor quality, i know that bosch serie 4 is needed for fully stainless steel dishwashers. Are serie 4 needed for all appliances for them to last a long time? Are there any other brands of similar prices to zanussi/bosch that last a long time (i can’t afford miele)?

I’ll be looking at buying an integrated double oven, integrated fridge-freezer, standalone washer, standalone vented dryer. integrated dishwasher.

Also what do you guys think about the upcoming EU rules that come in to force in the EU on 1st March 2021 that are to require manufacturers to design their large kitchen appliances to last a long time and to provide spare parts to repair shops for 10yrs. Sounds like good news to me.

Zanussi is a million miles from the quality it was 20 years ago, a lot of current Zanussi production is from China. PS. Take Which reports with a pinch of salt, some of their recommended ‘best buys’ of the last 15/20 years have been some of the worst machines on the market, even Indesit was listed as a BB on Which a few years ago. It’s ironic that you mention EU rules to force manufacturers to do something that they all actually did 20 to 30 years ago. They don’t need to know how to design machines that will last 10,15 or even 20 years, most of them have already done it. If people only buy the cheapest or should I say if price is the first consideration then that is what manufacturers will provide and as profit margins get squeezed even the ertswhile quality brands like Bosch, Zanussi and even Miele start to cut corners or import cheaper rebranded appliances from China, Turkey etc.

Thanks for the info. Do you know the answers to the bosch questions that i asked too? Also are there any other brands that will last a long time at a similar price to bosch/zanussi?

Interestingly i just looked on the bosch website and it says that are topping up their 2yr warranties to 5yrs on their serie 6+8 appliances and some serie 4 appliances and this offer ends on 31st march 2021: https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/experie…ite{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}3AStage{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}3A

It makes me think that bosch is going to provide 5yr warranties by default on 1st april 2021 on those higher end models but hope that people buy now instead of waiting for the new EU rules to pressure manufacturers in to making longer lifespan machines at which point many manufacturers will likely offer longer warranties knowing that few will need to be repaired during their warranty period.

    Hi

    I’m on it iadom 😉

The series four on the dishwasher is still the way to go IMO.

As for the rest of the appliances? Series four will give additional bells and whistles but will not be built any better so will not necessarily last longer.

Bosch website allows you to compare products very easily so you can balance your ” needs and wants” against your budget.

It seems as though this new serie 2 integrated slimline dishwasher has a stainless steel tub and a brushless motor: https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/product-list/dishwashers/built-in-dishwashers/built-in-dishwashers-45cm-width/SPV2HKX39G#/Tabs=section-technicalspecs/Togglebox=-1051994369/Togglebox=1118313654/Togglebox=156003665/Togglebox=1008000986/

Pricy though, £411 is the cheapest i have seen it at.

Great stuff, sense has prevailed at last. That price for a slimline integrated is not that bad as they are very low volume.

I would not touch a Bosch dishwasher with a 20 foot bargepole. I gave up repairing them, lost 35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my business but I still have no regrets doing that. Had so many new replacement parts fail namely the dreaded E09 heat pump failure that I had to replace free of charge with such a poor response from my parts supplier that I ended up funding the cost myself. Need less to say it was not for long until I refused all dishwasher work right across the board irrespective of the brand. Best move out of that repair market I ever made. Nothing but hassle.

Yes I agree they are a painn in the wotsits at times however it’s a very lucrative sector for us. They account for nearly 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of our sales and repair business.
